On September 12th, 1982, all Catholics in the Seymour area met at the Sevier County Bank. Bishop Niedergeses, Bishop of Nashville, several priests and a number of people attended to establish a Catholic Community. On March 12,1983, Father Frank Richards, the Pastor of the newly formed Catholic community of Seymour, said the first Mass in a vacant restaurant on Chapman Highway. From May 1983 to July 9, 1983, Mass was celebrated in the United Methodist Church in Seymour.
On July 9th, 1983 the first Mass was celebrated on the current site of Holy Family Church. The Bishop gave the name of Holy Family to the newly formed parish. Holy Family became a parish in the newly formed Diocese of Knoxville in 1988.
In 2014 Father Gilbert M. Diaz was assigned as Pastor of Holy Family.
